Internal intership
HOW TO START AN INTERNAL INTERSHIP
An internal intership is a kind of training carried out by a student of the University of Macerata on university premises. In such case the student should contact the relevant host office beforehand, making sure there are no objections on part of one's own department by checking information published on the department website.
In order for the online procedure to be started the host office has to ensure a contact person is available similarly to what happens in a standard internship. The contact person is required to obtain a username and password from the Stage Office to start the online procedure. Participants are strongly advised to design the training project together with the trainee according to instructions provided by the academic tutor in charge of endorsing the project.
The training project includes all aspects needed to carry out the agreement and commits each of the three participants in the training project (trainee, host institution, academic tutor) to fulfill the tasks they individually take on by means of the online intership procedure.
Insurance covering occupational accidents with INAIL (National Institute for Insurance against Labour Accidents) and third-party liability is borne by the University of Macerata.
STEP 1
The TRAINEE checks academic regulation of his degree course and, where provided for, he contacts the ACADEMIC TUTOR to set training project objectives. The trainee then contacts the host office.
STEP 2
The HOST OFFICE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MACERATA contacts the Stage Office to obtain username and password and start the online procedure thus providing administrative data on the training project (personal details of participant student and business tutor, training venue, period, timetable, and objectives).
At the end of the procedure, the administrative data on the training project are forwarded to the Stage Office and to the trainee by means of an automatically delivered email.
STEP 3
The TRAINEE receives the abovementioned email informing him that the host office has developed the training project. The perspective trainee, being the second participant involved in the project, then logs in onto the work placement portal at http://studenti.unimc.it. In the 'Intership and Work Placement/Interships in progress’ section the trainee views the training project related to his intership. From there he provides the name of the academic tutor who will monitor the activity and endorse the project by clicking on the 'Accept Training Project' tab.
When students accept the training project, they also declare that they meet the mandatory requirements to carry out an internship established by their degree course. After this, the system sends the information about the training program to the academic tutor via email, so that he or she can verify and eventually approve it.
STEP 4
The ACADEMIC TUTOR receives the email from the student. If the project is considered worthy, he sends an email to the Stage Office (stage@unimc.it) and a copy of it to the student, notifying approval of the training project. On the other hand, if the academic tutor does not consider the project sound, he notifies the office and the student so that the latter may design a new project with the host institution following the academic tutor's advice.
STEP 5
The STAGE OFFICE launches and implements the training project within 15 days from receipt of the academic tutor's email endorsing it.
STEP 6
The IT system automatically delivers a message notifying the training project has been implemented. The message is sent to the trainee, the host office and the academic tutor by email. The intership may start on the date set by the host institution in the training project.
The training project developed by means of the online procedure shall be effectively implemented without the need for handwritten signatures and delivery of paper documents to the Stage Office.
In order to monitor progress in the training project, both the host office and the trainee may log in with username and password and then click on the ‘Interships in progress’ tab in the menu on the right.
A list of intership projects either ongoing or that have ended is displayed. Training projects awaiting implementation on part of the Stage Office are identified by a yellow dot.
As soon as the training project is endorsed, the yellow dot turns green. The starting date of the intership is displayed in the list.
The intership may start on the date specified in the project.
